Terms of use
The contract between SetRally and the people who use it: what we do, what you do, and what neither of us can set aside.
Who they apply to
SetRally is online software for running racket-sport leagues, tournaments and sessions: the setrally.com site and the app.setrally.com app. It is provided by SetRally (“we”).
These terms bind SetRally and the organizer — the person who creates an account and runs an organization, whether a club, a group or themselves (“you”). They also bind the player who creates a SetRally account, which signing up online requires. The For players part gathers what concerns them; what is prohibited, availability, liability and governing law apply to them too. The links a player receives — availability reply, players’ link, captain link — work without an account.
The organizer accepts them by ticking the box when creating their account, or on their first visit to the console after they are published; the accepted version and the date are recorded. The player accepts them, together with the privacy policy, by ticking the box when creating their SetRally account or, for an account that has not done so yet, before their first sign-up; the date and the policy version are recorded. They go together with the privacy policy.
The French version prevails. This English version is a translation provided for your convenience.
What SetRally is, and is not
SetRally is a tool. It does not run your events: it doesn’t hold them, doesn’t supervise play, doesn’t check courts or equipment, and is not party to any arrangement between you and your players. The organizer is responsible for their events: rules, safety, insurance, any liability waivers they see fit, and their dealings with their players.
Your commitments as organizer
- Your account. You give accurate information, keep your access to yourself, and are responsible for the people you invite into your console.
- Your players’ information. When you enter or import your players’ names, emails, genders or levels, you guarantee that you obtained them lawfully, for your activity, and told the people concerned. You are responsible for this information; SetRally is your service provider, processing it for you, on your instructions and under the privacy policy. That is also why your private information serves no other club.
- Players under 14. If you sign up a player under 14, it is up to you to obtain the consent of the person with parental authority.
- What is public, and results. Players’ names, their teams, the divisions and the results show without signing in on the event page, in the Arena and on the players’ link. You grant SetRally the non-exclusive, free, worldwide and perpetual right to publish these results, keep them, and use them for players’ history, rating and rankings, across events and clubs — including after the event is deleted or your account is closed. You tell your players so, in particular those you add by hand; the sign-up form says it too.
- Your own terms. The terms you write for your sign-ups bind you and your players. SetRally doesn’t review them and is not party to them.
- Emails SetRally sends on your behalf — invitations, reminders, receipts, captain links — are for running your events. You don’t use them to advertise or promote anything, including in the words you add to them.
- Your content. The names, descriptions, logos and notices you publish remain yours, and you are responsible for what they say. You allow SetRally to host and display them to run the service.
For players
- An account to sign up. To sign up online, you need a SetRally account, with no password: you sign in through a link received by email, or with Google. The account is for people aged 14 and over, who declare it when creating it. You give accurate information and keep your access to yourself.
- Your record in each club. Each club you play in keeps your record. When you sign yourself up, your record at that club is linked to your account; a line says so before you send. Your account brings your records together for you alone: each club sees only its own.
- Signing someone else up. From your account, you can sign someone else up — a child, a friend. You then confirm that you are entitled to: their agreement or, for a child under 14, parental authority. Their record at the club carries only their name and is linked to no account; the sign-up’s emails come to you, and you find it in your account. For a session paid online, the club also keeps a record under your name, linked to your account: it is the one that receives the credit from a cancellation.
- Under 14. A player under 14 has no account: a parent or guardian signs them up, from their own account.
- Your email is used to sign you in, to follow up on your sign-ups and for the event’s messages — confirmation, availability reply, payment, captain link. Never for advertising, neither by SetRally nor by the club through SetRally.
- What is public. Your name, team and results appear on the event’s public pages, and SetRally uses them for your history and rating, across clubs. You can ask for them to be made anonymous: see the privacy policy.
- Cancelling a session. If you cancel before the deadline the club set, what you paid comes back to you as credit with the club; the club can also decide to refund it to your card. This deadline is shown to you before you pay and stays that of your sign-up, even if the club changes it later: see Sessions. Otherwise, refunds are the club’s decision.
- Your account. You can download your data and delete your account yourself, from its settings: see the privacy policy.
- The terms the club has you accept, if any, bind you and the club; SetRally is not party to them. About your information, ask the club, or us: see the privacy policy.
Money
Registrations paid online
Online payments go through Stripe and go straight to the club’s Stripe account: SetRally never holds that money. SetRally takes a fee on each online payment, deducted from the club’s payout: 3% on the Free plan, 1% on the Club plan and 0.5% on the Pro plan. The rate is that of the plan active at the time of payment. The player pays exactly the price the club set. The club decides on its refunds and makes them itself, except in the cases set out for sessions, where SetRally triggers them on its behalf. When a payment is refunded, SetRally’s fee goes back to the club, prorated for a partial refund; Stripe’s own fees stay governed by Stripe’s terms, which the club accepts when opening its account. A registration paid in person does not go through SetRally.
Sessions: cancelling, credit, waitlist
- The cancellation rule. For a session, the club sets a deadline: a player who cancels before it receives, as credit with the club, what they paid, by card or with credit. The deadline is shown to the player before they pay and stays that of their sign-up, even if the club changes it later. After the deadline, nothing is returned unless the club decides so.
- SetRally applies it on the club’s behalf. When a player cancels before the deadline, SetRally records the credit, without the club stepping in.
- Credit is worth the amount paid. It is kept on the player’s record at that club, does not expire and can only be used at that club: it pays, in whole or in part, a later sign-up made from an account linked to that record. The club owes it: SetRally keeps the ledger, without ever holding the money. The club can pay a credit back in money, and a club that leaves SetRally refunds the remaining credits itself. SetRally keeps the fee on the original payment; no fee is taken on the part of a sign-up paid with credit.
- Refunding to the card. The club can decide to refund a credited player to their card: SetRally returns to the card that paid, from the club’s Stripe account, what remains of that credit, at most what the card had paid, and the credit goes down by as much. The player gets that whole amount back; Stripe’s fees are borne by the club.
- For someone else. A sign-up made for someone else can be paid with the credit of the person signing them up, and the credit from a cancellation goes back to that person’s record with the club.
- When the club cancels a sign-up, SetRally tells the player by email. The club credits what was paid, or cancels without crediting; it can also refund to the card.
- The waitlist. In a session, a place that frees up is offered automatically to the first person on the waitlist. If the place is paid online, it is held for them 12 hours at most, and never past the start; it then goes to the next person. A payment that arrives after the place has gone is refunded in full, by SetRally on the club’s behalf.
Plans
The free plan has limits. Paid plans are monthly or yearly, and a tournament can be unlocked à la carte; prices are those shown on the pricing page, plus applicable taxes. A subscription renews itself at the end of each period until it is cancelled. You can cancel at any time from billing management; the plan stays active until the end of the period already paid, and amounts paid are not refunded pro rata, unless the law requires it. A price increase is announced at least 30 days before it applies to your renewal.
What is prohibited
Using SetRally for an illegal activity; publishing content that infringes others’ rights or that is hateful, harassing or misleading; sending advertising or unsolicited messages through SetRally; accessing, or trying to access, another organization’s data; getting around security or a plan’s limits; overloading or scraping the service by automated means; reselling the service without an agreement with us; impersonating someone else.
Suspension and closure
We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, after notice when possible, and without delay when there is a serious risk: fraud, a security threat, illegal content. You can close your account at any time by writing to us. A player who runs no club deletes theirs themselves, from their account settings. Barring fraud or a legal obligation, you can export your data before it is deleted.
Availability
We do our best to keep SetRally available, especially during sessions, and the database keeps a 30-day history so an error can be repaired. But we don’t guarantee that the service is always available or free of errors, and it may be interrupted for maintenance.
Should SetRally ever stop operating, we would tell you ahead of time and give you time to export your data before deleting it.
Liability
SetRally is not responsible for how your events are run or for what happens on court, injuries included. For an organizer who is not a consumer, our total liability to them is limited to the amounts they paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to it, and we are not liable for indirect losses, such as lost profits.
These limits have bounds we don’t try to get around. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for bodily or moral injury, for gross or intentional fault, or any liability the law does not allow to be excluded. If you are a consumer, you keep every protection of Québec’s Consumer Protection Act, which these terms do not reduce.
Your data
A club’s private data belongs to the club and serves it only. A player’s SetRally account brings their records together for them alone; it gives no club access to what another club keeps. Public results also serve players’ history and rating, as your organizer commitments provide. It can export it at any time, on every plan. What we keep, what is public, who it is shared with and your rights are set out in the privacy policy.
Changes
We may change these terms. A significant change is announced at least 30 days before it takes effect, and the new version is presented to you for acceptance in the console. If you refuse it, you can stop using SetRally and close your account; a consumer can also cancel their contract, as the law allows.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Québec and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Any dispute falls to the courts of the judicial district of Montréal — unless you are a consumer: you can then bring it before the court where you live. These terms contain no mandatory arbitration clause and no class-action waiver.

SetRally is operated by Badminton À Montréal Inc. (Québec enterprise number 1181602849) under the name SetRally Software. SetRally was born at BAM!, a Montréal badminton league that uses it like any other club: no club, BAM! included, has access to another club’s private data.
